Gamera Signals for AdX Optimization
Last updated: June 16, 2026
This document outlines an emerging capability designed to enhance AdX yield performance through the strategic use of Gamera key-value pairs. By passing inventory quality signals - such as high viewability or CTR rates - directly into Google Ad Exchange, publishers can optimize AdX demand more effectively, resulting in measurable improvements to overall yield.
Early adopters of this test have reported material increases in AdX revenue, suggesting meaningful opportunity for publishers seeking to extract greater value from their existing inventory.
Setup
Step 1: Gamera Signals
For optimal results, we recommend configuring the following signals using a combination of CTR and Viewability metrics. All other metrics within the signals should be adjusted to the least restrictive setting possible to maximize delivery against these targeted data points.
AdX Test - Tier 1 CTR/Viewability
CTR: >.25% - 10%
Viewability: 80 - 100%
AdX Test - Tier 2 CTR/Viewability
CTR: > .15% - 10%
Viewability: 70 - 100%
AdX Test - Tier 1 CTR
CTR: > .25% - 10%
AdX Test - Tier 2 CTR
CTR: > .15% - 10%
AdX Test - Tier 1 Viewability
Viewability: 90 - 100%
AdX Test - Tier 2 Viewability
Viewability: 80 - 100%
AdX Test - Tier 3 Viewability
Viewability: 70 - 100%
AdX Test - Tier 4 Viewability
Viewability: 60 - 100%
Note: for these tests to be viable, they must have a minimum of 100k impressions/day
Step 2: AdX Line Items
Ensure that you have a single RON AdX line item with no Gamera related key-value targeting to use as a benchmark for this test
Create:
One AdX line item to correspond to each Gamera signal associated with this test (created in Step 1). Configure the targeting to the Gamera KVP, i.e. gamera=gamera_123
One RON line item negatively targeting all Gamera signals associated with this test (created in Step 1).
Validation
Set the Gamera KVPs to reportable
Allow the test to run for a minimum of 14 days
